Gorge Vale is an MLS sub-area in Esquimalt named for the Gorge Vale Golf Club on Craigflower Road, an A.V. Macan course from the late 1920s that covers about 143 acres and is the township's only Agricultural Land Reserve parcel. The Veterans' Cemetery known as God's Acre, a national historic site, sits at its centre. The sub-area covers the streets between the course, the Gorge Waterway and Tillicum Road, next to the Kinsmen Park area; the boundary is not published, so treat the two as one Gorge-side district.
The Gorge has been a Songhees and Esquimalt food-gathering place for millennia and was Victoria's summer playground after the BC Electric amusement park opened in 1905. Today the streets hold heritage houses on Arcadia, Selkirk and Uganda from 1914 to 1947 alongside post-war bungalows, townhouses and condominium buildings, with new presales such as 1000 Craigflower adding density at the Tillicum and Craigflower node, which the township's plan designates for shops with homes above. Esquimalt Gorge Park and the Gorge Pointe Pub are a short walk, Routes 24 and 25 run along Tillicum and Routes 15 and 26 serve Esquimalt, and downtown is about ten minutes by car.
