About the building
The Sequoia is a contemporary six-storey luxury condominium building located within the master-planned Marigold Lands community in Central Saanich. Completed in 2024, the residence offers 50 high-end units featuring high ceilings, fireplaces, and kitchens with stainless appliances and quartz countertops. Residents enjoy premium amenities including a communal landscaped rooftop terrace with a BBQ area and views over Haro Strait to James Island and Mount Baker, all within a short distance of the Victoria International Airport and BC Ferries.
The Sequoia Residences at Marigold is the final phase of Marigold Lands, the community that Tim Hackett and Steve Mann have built out since 2016 on the former Marigold Nursery site off Lochside Drive, with GT Mann Contracting as builder and interiors by Kimberly Williams Interiors. Built from 2022 to 2024, the six-storey wood-frame building holds 50 homes of 714 to 1,432 square feet in one- to three-bedroom plans, many with dens, and the rooftop terrace has a barbecue and pergola-covered seating; views from the upper floors take in Haro Strait, James Island and Mount Baker rather than the inlet side.
Suites have heat pumps with forced-air cooling, and the underground parkade includes bike parking and EV charging. A 1,200-square-foot two-bedroom listed in 2025 carried a strata fee of about $540 a month, and pets are allowed. The Lochside Trail runs beside the site, and the earlier Marigold phases, including The Arbutus at 2500 Hackett, a park and a commercial building, are next door.
About Turgoose
Turgoose is an MLS sub-area in Central Saanich on the east side of the Saanich Peninsula, named for Turgoose Point on the northwest shore of Saanichton Bay. The name comes from William Turgoose, an English-born farmer who arrived with the Cariboo gold rush and farmed more than 200 hectares here from about 1865. Listings in the sub-area sit along Ferguson Road, Lancelot Place and the streets between the highway and the bay, including the large strata community at 2600 Ferguson Road; the boundary is not published, so treat it as the shoreline side of Saanichton.
Housing is mostly detached, with strata townhomes and a small number of low-rise condominium buildings, many of them aimed at downsizers who want a quieter setting than Sidney. Saanichton Bay Park and Island View Beach Regional Park are the local waterfront, with the Lochside Trail running along the old rail line, and the shops, pub and services of Saanichton village are a few minutes west. The Pat Bay Highway is close at hand, putting the airport about five minutes away, the ferries about fifteen and downtown Victoria 25 to 30 minutes. Route 75 from Saanichton is the main transit link.
