About the building
Brentwood Place is a boutique low-rise residential building centrally located in the heart of Brentwood Bay village. Built in 1988, this three-storey wood-frame complex contains just 15 condominium residences, fostering a quiet and private community atmosphere. The building features surface parking, with many units offering covered decks over the lawn. Residents enjoy immediate walkability to local amenities, including grocery stores, cafes, and the nearby marina.
Brentwood Place is a stucco building on a poured-concrete foundation with asphalt-shingle and torch-on roofing, and records disagree about its size: the directory counts 15 homes on three floors, bccondosandhomes 11 on two, and suite numbers run at least to 21, with some ground-level homes that listings say feel more like townhomes. Sources split between 1988 and 1989 for the year. Suites run from about 930-square-foot two-bedrooms with covered wraparound decks over the lawn, at strata fees around $420 to $430 a month, to a 1,320-square-foot plan with a patio at about $655; heating is electric baseboard, parking is open surface stalls, and the strata fee covers building insurance, caretaker, garbage, management and grounds.
The strata allows birds, cats and dogs with limits on number and size and is professionally managed. Carriage Pointe at 7088 West Saanich Road next door is a separate 2007 strata. The Brentwood Bay village shops are across the road and the marina is a few minutes downhill.
About Brentwood Bay
Brentwood Bay is the village in the District of Central Saanich on Saanich Inlet, west of the Pat Bay Highway and about twenty-five minutes from downtown Victoria. It began as Sluggett, after an early settler family, and was renamed for Brentwood in Essex. The Butchart Gardens, built in a former limestone quarry on Tod Inlet, bring more than a million visitors a year, and the Brentwood Bay to Mill Bay ferry across the inlet is the twenty-five-minute shortcut around the Malahat. Gowlland Tod Provincial Park, Tod Inlet and Coles Bay Regional Park make this one of the most scenic corners of the peninsula.
Housing is mostly detached, but a commercial village runs along West Saanich Road and Verdier Avenue with condominium and townhome buildings tucked behind it, and newer mid-density projects such as Brentwood Estates and The Meadows have added more than 240 homes near Stellys Cross Road. Brentwood Bay Lodge and Spa, the marina and the Butterfly Gardens round out the amenities, and Stelly's Secondary is the local high school. Route 81 runs through to Saanichton, Sidney and Swartz Bay and Route 83 connects Brentwood to Royal Oak; most residents drive, and the Lochside Trail is a short ride east.
