About the building
The Travino is a modern 6-storey condominium complex located at 747 Travino Lane in Saanich, BC. Completed in 2017, it comprises 58 residential units. The development offers a range of amenities including a rooftop deck, fitness centre, kayak storage, garden plots, and EV charging stations. Residents enjoy proximity to Royal Oak Shopping Centre, Broadmead Village, and public transit options.
Travino is a multi-phase community by Mike Geric Construction in Royal Oak, with sister buildings at 740 and 742 Travino Lane completed in 2015. The 747 building shares the Built Green Gold approach: solar-assisted central heating and cooling with air conditioning, central hot water, heated tile floors in the bathrooms, quartz counters, gas cooktops and balconies with gas barbecue hookups. A typical two-bedroom, two-bathroom suite is about 835 square feet. One source lists the building at six levels built in 2015, while listings say 2017.
Residents share a rooftop deck, garden plots, a fitness centre, a games room, a dog-wash station, bike and kayak storage and a community lounge with a kitchen. Underground parking with EV charging and a storage locker come with the homes. Listings describe the building as family-oriented and pet-friendly; strata fees run high because they include heating, cooling and hot water. The Pat Bay Highway, Royal Oak Shopping Centre and Broadmead Village are all minutes away.
About Royal Oak
Royal Oak is the part of Saanich West straddling the Pat Bay Highway, made up of the Broadmead, Falaise and Viewmont neighbourhoods. It was farmed from the 1860s and held the Saanich municipal hall until 1965; Broadmead was R.P. Rithet's horse farm, developed from 1965 with a tree-retention plan that still shapes its streets. About 55 per cent of homes are detached and 45 per cent apartments and townhouses, with condominium buildings clustered around the two shopping centres and the Royal Oak Drive corridor, and the Lodge at Broadmead and other seniors' housing give the area an older profile.
Broadmead Village and Royal Oak Shopping Centre handle groceries and daily errands, and Saanich Commonwealth Place, built for the 1994 Commonwealth Games, has the pools, waterslide, gym and the Bruce Hutchison branch library. Rithet's Bog, Colquitz River Park and Elk and Beaver lakes are the green spaces, and Royal Oak Middle School is the local school. The Royal Oak Exchange at Elk Lake Drive is a major transit hub, with Routes 6, 9, 30, 31, 32, 39, 75 and 83 and the 38 to Westhills, and the highway puts downtown about fifteen minutes away and the airport and ferries about twenty.
