About the building
The Sovereign is a prestigious 11-storey boutique condominium building located in the heart of downtown Victoria's Old Town district. Completed in 2013, the steel-and-concrete residence features a brick exterior over a full rain-screen envelope, housing 36 luxury units. Residents enjoy high-end amenities including a car elevator system for secure underground parking and a rooftop terrace equipped with an outdoor kitchen, a fireplace, and panoramic views of the Inner Harbour.
The Sovereign was developed by Chard Development with architects Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership and interiors by BBA Design Consultants, and built by Farmer Construction; Chard assembled the 10,000-square-foot site in 2008 and the building is registered as strata plan EPS1336. The small lot is why the parking is unusual: two car elevators, described at the time as the first in Victoria, serve a four-level, 53-stall parkade. The 36 homes sit above two ground-floor commercial units and run from 656 to 1,621 square feet in one- and two-bedroom-plus-den plans.
Suites have wide-plank hardwood, granite counters, GE Monogram ranges and an individual hybrid heat pump for heating and cooling, and the concrete structure carries a full rain-screen envelope with brick exterior. The amenity level, called Club 36, includes a guest suite, and the rooftop terrace has an open-flame fireplace and built-in barbecue. Confirm pet bylaws with the strata. Broughton Street puts the Royal Theatre, Fort Street and the Inner Harbour within two or three blocks.
