About the building
Tresah (East) is a 6-storey residential building located in Victoria's Midtown district, adjacent to the Galloping Goose Trail and the upcoming Tresah West tower. Completed in 2023, this wood-frame mid-rise features 68 modern residences with warm white facades and brick-clad bases. Residents enjoy convenient access to Mayfair Shopping Centre and sustainable amenities, including two on-site Modo car share vehicles, secure bike storage, and a dog-friendly policy.
Tresah East was developed and built by Mike Geric Construction with D'Ambrosio Architecture + Urbanism as architect, and passed its final City inspection in late 2023 after nearly three years of construction; residents moved in from November 1 of that year and the building sold out. The 68 homes are heavily weighted to compact plans, with 41 studios, 22 one-bedrooms and five two-bedrooms, and eight of them are held as rentals.
The site shares a green courtyard with a timber pavilion, a grass dog-walk area and a Modo car-share stall, and the underground parkade serving both Tresah phases holds 127 vehicles and 211 bikes. Tresah West, the 12-storey tower rising beside it, is a separate building. Geric's earlier Brizo 19 sits on the same street. Douglas Street, a designated future rapid-transit corridor, is a block away, with Mayfair Shopping Centre, Topaz Park and the Galloping Goose all within a few minutes on foot.
About Burnside
Burnside is the MLS name for Victoria's Burnside-Gorge neighbourhood, roughly the area between Tolmie Avenue, Blanshard Street, Chatham Street and the Gorge waterfront west of Harriet Road. It is the most mixed neighbourhood in the city: a large industrial and commercial district around Rock Bay and the Douglas Street corridor, stable residential pockets in the northwest, and new apartment and condominium buildings going up along Gorge Road, Burnside Road and the Selkirk waterfront. The City's plan calls for most of Victoria's future growth to land on the Douglas Street corridor, which is also the planned rapid-transit spine.
Mayfair Shopping Centre is the retail anchor and is designated a town centre, Selkirk Village on the Gorge is a smaller urban village, and the Burnside Gorge Community Centre is on Cecelia Road. Gorge Park, Cecelia Ravine and Arbutus Park give the area more green space than its reputation suggests, and Point Ellice House on Pleasant Street is a national historic site. Phillips, Vancouver Island, Driftwood, Hoyne and Moon Under Water breweries are all within a short walk of each other, which has made the area a stop on the BC Ale Trail. The Galloping Goose crosses the waterway on the Selkirk Trestle, and the Inner Harbour is about twenty minutes on foot.
