About the building
The Maija London is a four-storey residential condominium located at 280 Island Highway in View Royal, on the site of the town's former fire hall. Completed in 2019, the building offers 37 West Coast contemporary units featuring open-concept layouts, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances. Residents enjoy pet-friendly policies, along with amenities such as secure underground parking, a meeting room, a common courtyard, and convenient access to the E&N Rail Trail and Eagle Creek Village.
The Maija London was designed by Alan Lowe Architect as a wood-frame building with underground parking, with one- and two-bedroom homes that launched from $329,900 to $554,900. The 1957 fire hall that stood here was replaced by a new public safety building about 300 metres away from 2013, and the town rezoned the site in 2015 for a four-storey building with underground parking; the strata is registered as EPS5170. Suites run from one-bedroom corners of about 560 square feet to two-bedrooms around 890 square feet, some with vaulted ceilings, heated bathroom tile floors and both a patio and a private balcony. Strata fees run roughly $465 to $555 a month, and the building is fully sprinklered with controlled entry.
Each home has personal storage, and there is secure bike storage. Listings describe the building as pet-friendly; confirm with the strata. Island Highway at this point is a short walk from the Admirals Walk shops and the View Royal town centre site, with Route 95 RapidBus stops at Admirals and Helmcken and the Victoria General Hospital a few minutes away.
About View Royal
View Royal is the town between Esquimalt and Langford along the Trans-Canada Highway, with about 11,600 residents and more than 700 hectares of parkland. It was incorporated in 1988 and takes its name from a 1912 subdivision marketed as View Royal; Craigflower Manor and Schoolhouse, built in 1856, are a national historic site at the Portage Inlet end, and the Four Mile and Six Mile roadhouses date from the 1850s. The MLS uses the town name for listings outside the Six Mile sub-area, so most of its condominium stock is along the Island Highway and Admirals Road and in the Helmcken and Hospital neighbourhoods around Victoria General Hospital.
Thetis Lake Regional Park, with McKenzie, Pike and Prior lakes, is the centrepiece, and Portage Park, Helmcken Centennial Park and 25 kilometres of trails connect to the Galloping Goose. Victoria General is the largest employer. The town is planning its centre on the Island Highway near Admirals, where RapidBus lanes have been under construction since 2024 and large rental projects are approved. Route 95 stops at Helmcken and Admirals on its way downtown and to Langford, Route 14 links the hospital to UVic, and downtown is about fifteen minutes by car.
